From the first time I stepped foot in my late grandfather Rafael’s barn, I knew I wanted to be a horse trainer. My father, Jorge, who had also been a trainer for 17 years, instilled his love and passion for horses in me, inspiring me to follow in my family’s footsteps.
After two years of training school and saddling just one starter back in Venezuela, I decided to pursue a career in the U.S., arriving in South Florida in 2012 when I was only 21.
Born into Thoroughbred racing, I saw no problem starting low and slow as a hotwalker at Calder in Miami. Soon after, I was reunited with my Uncle Gustavo Delgado, a south-Florida-based trainer, and worked as his assistant for 5 years.
In the summer of 2017, I went out on my own with only one horse, Saturado, who gave me my first win on July 9, 2017.
My goals are to obtain new clients that will exhibit my abilities as a highly successful Thoroughbred Trainer and Bloodstock Agent. At 34, I have accumulated 1,926 lifetime starts which display above average statistics in the Thoroughbred Racing Industry. Although based in South Florida, I travel to seasonal locations and for specific races.
